Step 1: Connecting The Wires Accordingly

Understand that the two-pole relay switch will have three pairs of wires attached to it. The first wires should be attached to the control coil of the relay. Then a magnetic field is produced by the coil, which controls the electrical contacts of the relay. 

The second set of cables will come from the electrical source on the main panel. A circuit breaker (Two-pole) or two fuses are needed for a 220 VAC pump. 

Finally, the last pair comes. This pair of wires that are attached to your relay will go to your pump motor.

Step 2: Placing The Relay Switch

Place the two-pole pump relay switch somewhere dry. Do it at least 5 feet off your ground. 

Utilize the mounting screws provided by the vendor afterward. With the screwdriver, fasten the switch mechanism to a sturdy wall.

Step 3: Turning Off The Power

Turn off the electricity to the pump motor circuit. Turn the circuit breaker off as well. You can also turn off any fuses that supply electricity to the pump motor.

On the other hand, the electrical system neutral will be connected to the other cable. The voltage should be 120 VAC between these two wires.

Step 6: Attaching Cables to Pump Motor

Identify the labels that follow on the relay switch now. Label one pair of screw terminals as “Line”.

The opposite pair of terminals should be identified as “Load”. The wires from the main power fuse or circuit breaker must then be connected. 

Attach them to the “Line” marked screw terminals. Remember to connect one wire to each terminal once more. 

Attach the cables going to your pump motor now. Connect these to each of the “Load” labeled screw terminals. Each terminal should have only one wire.

Step 7: Turning On The Power Again

Last but not least, re-energize your main power. To do so, turn on the circuit breaker. Or you can also replace your power fuses.
