How to Turn on Different Showers? 4 Simple Tips
To turn on a shower, you usually twist a few knobs on the wall. With new shower systems hitting the market every day, it’s hard to know how to turn each of them on.
That’s why we’ve created a list of useful tips for turning these showers on quickly.
Tip 1: For Showers with Pull Tab on Top of Faucet
Some showers, especially those with a bath/shower combo, include a temperature control lever handle, They also have a pull tab on top of the faucet.
When the water is turned on, it only seems to flow in the bathtub. In order to turn on these showers, you need to follow a few steps.
Turn on the water with the lever handle and let it run in the bath. Then set the temperature to your preference. Now pull the tab on top of the faucet. The water flow will now be redirected from the bathtub to the showerhead.
Tip 2: For Showers with No Visible Pull Tabs
These types of showers are the most confusing of them all. There’s no sign of the pull tab!
But don’t worry, it’s actually underneath the faucet where the water is dispensed. To get your shower running, follow these steps.
Turn on the water. Then change the water temperature to your comfort.
Now pull on the tab just under the faucet. Pulling the tab while the water is running could be difficult. In that case, turn it off and then pull on the tab. The water flow should now be directed to the showerhead.
When tugging on these tabs, be careful how much pressure you apply. Too much force might cause the shower diverter to fall out.
If it does fall out, don’t panic; you can easily install diverters. Choose the highest quality diverters possible to ensure that it doesn’t happen again. Here are our suggestions-
Tip 3: For Showers With Three Knobs
Showers with three knobs are one of the easy ones. Two of the knobs are understandably for hot and cold water. But why is there a third knob?
The third knob actually controls the flow of water. The water flow will be directed to the tub if you turn it in one direction and the opposite way will direct it to the showerhead.
We advise you to get out of the bath and then rotate all three knobs one at a time. This is to check whether they affect the water’s temperature or direction.
Normally the functionality of each shower knob varies greatly depending on which model of PVC pipe is used in plumbing.
Tip 4: For Shower Head with Multiple Setting
A multi-setting showerhead allows you to change the size of the stream. From a narrow to a large stream of water it’s quite easy. More than a dozen settings are available on the best multi-setting showerheads his includes mist, massage, and pulsating.
In order to set the stream to your preference, turn the little nob that’s on the showerhead. With each turn, you will be able to get different streams coming out of the showerhead.
Turning on the shower will be a breeze if you follow these guidelines. But what happens when you are turning the knobs correctly but there’s no water coming out?
What If There is No Water at All?
If the shower still does not work after multiple attempts. It may be because there’s no running water supply in the system.
When you’re on vacation and staying at a hotel or Airbnb, you should definitely call the property owner or hotel staff. You need to inquire about how you are supposed to shower in these cases.
But if this happens in your new home, you need to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty.
Check the property for any water valves that might be turned off when it is empty. Or any water pressure regulators that may be linked. A water valve handle that has broken can cause this as well.
These tips should help you avoid embarrassing situations of not knowing how to turn on showers.
Question: Why is my diverter not working?
Answer: Water flows can be redirected from the bathtub to the showerhead easily by a diverter valve. But in some cases, these diverter valves may get blocked and not work at all.
Question: What am I not getting hot water in the shower?
Answer: If the water in your shower does not heat up, the problem might be with the water heater’s temperature control.
Question: Is it possible to increase water pressure by changing the showerhead?
Answer: Yes, it is possible. Water pressure usually depends on the connection of plumbing and shower. But you can improve the pressure of water by installing a new showerhead.
It’s quite irritating not to be able to find out how to turn on different showers! Especially when you want nothing more than to relax and freshen up.
Hopefully, with our guide, you won’t face this issue anymore. Just follow our instructions the right way.
Have a good day!
